Groundcovers and climbers

Groundcovers and climbing plants are a wonderful addition to any home garden or landscape project. Have them climb up, or cascade down, a retaining wall as a stunning feature plant. Use them in garden beds and as rockery plants.

These plants are also highly functional – they can be used to combat erosion, as a fire retardant or to stabilise soil.

We have a huge range of ground covers and climbers to suit your soil and our climate. Grevilleas are always popular and many species make excellent groundcovers. They have lovely spider-like flowers and variable foliage. They are also favourites with the honey-eating birds. Some of our recommendations are:
  • Grevillea synaphae. The catkin Grevillea has unusually shaped blue-grey foliage and cream catkin-type flowers in winter and spring. It can grow up to knee height with a spread of 1.5 metres.
  • Grevillea Molonglo. A quick growing plant to shin height, with a spread of 1.5 metres. The foliage is bright green with yellow-orange spider flowers in winter and spring.
  • Grevillea lanigera Mt. Tamboritha. Soft grey-green foliage is complimented by pink and cream spider flowers for up to six months of the year. This plant is low growing and spreading.

We have a huge range of seedlings readily available – and if we don’t have it we’ll grow it for you.
